Zion San Francisco launched its music label in Spring of 2025. Each of the featured musicians has graciously donated their talents so that 100% of track purchases go directly to Zion Lutheran Church and School. Our first single featured the wonderful Rob Hansen playing violin to the tune "Greensleeves".

Subsequent recordings have featured Ari Micich, Danny Clay, Winnie Nieh, and our director Kyle Hovatter.

Our Organ 

​

Our Bosch organ was installed in 1976 by then Music Director Rob Kerman and a team of volunteers. It has two manuals and pedal board. Our organist and music director, Kyle Hovatter, enjoys regularly leading worship from the organ often recruiting other instrumentalists and vocalists for special musical presentations.

Since 2014, Zion San Francisco has recorded and shared more than 300 videos. These recordings enrich the worship experience for countless viewers through our lyric videos, as well as beautiful instrumental recordings captured during live services or during one of our concert series.

Our Director

 

Composer/performer Kyle Hovatter began presenting music at Zion in 2010 while he studied at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He is equally at home with leading our worship from the organ as well as with our more contemporary band. Since the Fall of 2011 we have had him as our Director of Music, where he regularly rehearses teams of professional musicians, volunteers, and students. Separate from Zion he performs locally in the Bay Area and composes for a variety of ensembles internationally. For more information visit his personal website: kylehovatter.com​
